 EDUCATION

The Liberian Youth Coalition plans to tackle the needs of thousands of Liberian children and youths through our education initiative programs. Currently, the education sector in Liberia is experiencing a setback because of the education infrastructures that were destroyed during Liberia’s prolonged 14 years civil war. Today, education in Liberia is scarce because there are not enough educational institutions in the country to meet the needs of youths and children whom the Liberian Youth Coalition believes should have the right to basic education. According to recent statistics, 70% of Liberians are illiterate, and 50% of Liberian children have no opportunity to acquire an education. Moreover, the unemployment rate stands a whopping high at 80%, leaving many families without sufficient means to educate their children. DONATE NOW

Due to such emergency circumstances concerning education in Liberia, the Liberian Youth Coalition plans to fulfill our education initiative programs by providing the following services:

Scholarships to needed children to assist with tuition and books

Assisting with the renovation of elementary, junior and senior high schools

Building libraries in schools

Providing financial aid to schools to assist with the training of qualified teachers

Conducting literacy seminars and programs to help underprivileged youths to learn how to read, write and communicate effectively. Example, scrabble!

Sponsor after school programs to prevent children and youths from diverting focus from their educational goals
